Dr. & Mrs. Robert W Burke got their first Boxer after WWII. The first champion they bred, Miss Dorene, finished in 1950. She was by CH Kobang of Sirrah Crest out of their CH Blanka v Monachia. She was followed by CH Khorasan’s Apache by Bang Away x Misty Maid of Thorhall by CH Captain Lookout of Thorhall, one of four littermates to finish.
Dr. Burke admired Bang Away greatly and wanted a bitch to produce to him. He found her in Legacy of Clover Downs, bred by Joe Gregory & Burr Long. She was by CH Jered’s Sovereign out of Zizzle Zee of Sirrah Crest. Sovereign was by Bang Away out of Spellbinder’s sister, CH Jered’s Sweet Stuff. Zizzle Zee by CH Vick Wick of Sirrah Crest, brother to Bang Away’s dam, Verily Verily.)
Legacy produced four champions for Marquam Hill. Bred to Bang Away she produced CH Marquam Hill’s Comanche in her first litter. The second litter, by CH Evo-Wen’s Impressario – a grandson of Spellbinder and Barrage – produced CH Marquam Hill’s Ensign. Legacy’s third litter produced two champions, CH Marquam Hill’s Fashion Plate and CH Marquam Hill’s Flamingo, dam of the Salgray “F” litter and foundation bitch for much of the Hamilburg’s Salgray Boxers. The 1960s saw eight more champions produced by Marquam Hill Boxers.
After a hiatus in the 1970s, Dr. Burke, now a very successful child psychologist, decided to get back into Boxers. He purchased a bitch – CH Turo’s Whisper of Five T’s – herself out of a litter of six champions CH Benjoman of Five T’s LOM out of CH Turo’s Vanity Fair by CH Aracrest’s Kaylib. She was bred to AM/CAN CH Mephisto’s Vendetta LOM and produced three champions who finished in 1980 including AM/CAN CH Marquam Hill’s Traper of Turo LOM – tied with ICH Millan’s Fashion Hint LOM, as one of the top producers of sires and dams of merit with 12 each – and CH Marquam Hill’s Trigger of Turo. His last two champions were co-owned with Elizabeth Esacove and Sandy Roberts of TuRo boxers. Burke owned the Traper son CH Turo’s Empire out of CH Turo’s Touche.
