The Larry Downey Award
In 1978, The American Boxer Club Board of Directors, approved the donation of an award to be presented yearly to honor someone who has made outstanding efforts on behalf of the American Boxer Club.
The Award, a Medallion in Honor of Larry Downey, has been donated by ABC member Pat Harrah. Mrs. Harrah commissioned Famed Artist and Animal Sculptress, June Harrah, to complete twenty-five such medallions to be awarded one each year at the Annual Dinner. The selection of Honoree is made by the Board of DIrectors, who also have the option of withholding the honor for a year. In as much as the Board chooses the recipent, no serving Board Member is eligible to be so honored while in Office. Where a husband and wife have so served, a single presentation is made, signifying their common interest and contribution to the Club.
