New annual awards effective calendar year 2010
  • “Unsung Hero Award”: Current members of ABC and members of member clubs submit names of people or Boxers who have contributed in an extraordinary way such as those who volunteer and work tirelessly in Boxer rescue, or countless other ways. An example of a Boxer who would be eligible for the Unsung Hero Award would be a Search and Rescue Boxer, such as the one who worked at Ground Zero after 9/11, or a certified Therapy Dog who adds so much joy to peoples’ lives. Submissions would have to be in the hands of the Annual Awards Chair no later than January 1st each year starting in 2011 for the first award for 2010. The Annual Awards Chair would then share the submissions with the current Restructuring Committee members and determine the winner/winners.
  • “Top Producing Dog & Top Producing Bitch”: This award would be given to a Sire or Dam of Merit who has also produced titled performance get in any AKC recognized venue (Agility, Obedience, Rally, Tracking, etc.). Again, as with the Unsung Hero Award, the ABC Awards Chair and the current members of this committee would determine the recipients each year.

Breeder Recognition on Annual Awards effective calendar year 2010 All Annual Awards will be inscribed with not just the current owners, but the breeders.

Further, it was approved that all ABC members or members of member clubs owners and breeders listed on the award be given copies of the award paid for by ABC. The current practice is for the first owner to get the “paid for by ABC” award and any other owners have to pay for an additional copy. No award is offered to the breeders. Effective with the 2010 awards, all listed owners and breeders will be given copies of the award at no extra charge.
