Beginning in 2000, members of Boxer clubs that are affiliated with the American Boxer Club have been able to receive the ABC News Bulletin. The Bulletin is the official publication of the ABC, therefore carrying all committee reports, official minutes, plus additional articles that are deemed of a high enough quality and interest to merit publication.
In May, 2001, at the ABC National Specialty, the Board of Directors of the ABC again approved the broader distribution of the Bulletin, and a subscription rate of $15.00 per year was authorized. That was a fee which would cover only the direct costs of producing and delivering the publication.
The following schedule will be used in implementing this action:
(1) An announcement will be placed in the Bulletin in December, which should be copied by the club secretaries and forwarded to each member of their clubs. This could be done in a direct mailing or by placing the announcement in the club's newsletter.
(2) The subscriber must use the form contained in the announcement.
(3) Distribution of the Bulletin to the new subscribers will begin with the June issue and continue through the March, issue. The subscription year will be June to June, with the latest date for renewals being June 1, of each year.
There is no profit motivation in the decision, but rather an action that would improve the lines of communication between the member clubs and the parent organization. It is extremely important in this time when the sport of purebred dogs is under attack from powerful forces, that we all be aware of the decisions and purposes behind the actions taken by the parent club, the ABC.
It is hoped, however, that a means for allowing the member clubs to use the Bulletin as a way to communicate with the parent club can also be developed with this step.
